Kristina Kuest-Mistry is a free-lance
choreographer / dancer in the San Antonio area. Her training began there, mostly at
St. Mary's Hall and with San Antonio Dance Theatre, where her primary focus was ballet.
She attended Boston University and continued her dance training at both the
university and Boston Ballet School. During the seven years that she performed with
the Boston University Dance Theatre, she both choreographed and danced extensively in
student and faculty concerts. She participated in many workshops in the Boston area,
especially in modern dance and contact improvisation. She has worked with Deborah
Bluth and Sean Curran and has also enjoyed retreats at Earthdance and festivals like
American College Dance Festival. Since 2001, she has been on the Board of Directors
of San Antonio Dance Umbrella; she is the WIP (Works In Progress / Wednesdays In
Performance) chairwoman and webmaster.
Kristina's style of choreography incorporates elements from Merce Cunningham and
others. She enjoys working with elements of chance and freeing up the standard dance
stratification with Contact Improv. She is fascinated with Dance/Technology, but has
not experimented too much in this medium.
Kristina also went to MIT for a masters in Mechanical Engineering, but that is another
story.
Record keeping has not been a favorite activity. However, one of these days, old programs and videotapes will be brought out and integrated onto this site.

variables. Projections of avatar dancers will accompany live dancers on stage.
